Learn a language_Ed at airport, off to Mexico to do his speech

The groom’s speech at a wedding comes with many challenges; balancing the jokes, quirky anecdotes and grand gestures of love, and all to be delivered in front of the most important people in your life. That pressure wasn’t quite enough for Ed, a 28 year-old accountant from London.

In the ultimate declaration of love, Ed made a resolution this year to deliver his speech in his fiancé – Mariana’s native Spanish. The only problem was that Ed didn’t speak a word of Spanish. With the wedding fast approaching Ed knew time was running out…

Microsoft Lumia had discovered that, like Ed, 36% of people around the globe would have also loved to “learn something new” as their 2014 resolution*. So when Ed submitted his resolution to Microsoft Lumia as part of the #MakeItHappen campaign, they came straight to his rescue.

Ed’s pursuit to learn Spanish is one of the 31 resolutions that Microsoft Lumia is helping to make a reality in the 31 days of December. Follow the incredible stories of the resolutions fulfilled around the globe so far, and post your own resolution to see if Microsoft Lumia can help you to #MakeItHappen here

Meet Amy Marietta, the incredibly stylish and busy lady behind the fashion and lifestyle blog Viviere bella. When she isn’t working as a social media manager, stylist, or journalist, this California girl (who is currently based in New York!) can be found modeling in some pretty amazing photo-shoots!

Read what happened when Snap talked to Amy about LBDs, the perfect outfit for a night out, and how to balance a very busy schedule!

For our readers who may not be familiar with your blog, can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got involved with blogging?

I began blogging as soon as I moved to New York from California and started interning at a PR agency while still in school. I got to learn the other side of the business to fully understand how everything worked before I dove into it. I had modeled in LA since I was 16 but was pretty over the way it all worked and wanted to make more of an impact and do something on a bigger scale. I then created Viviere Bella to express myself on a platform through style, words and photography. It all started as simply street style and then morphed into more lifestyle, events, music and travel while also incorporating style. It has opened up so many opportunities for me and I could not be more grateful for the people I’ve worked with – you guys are all awesome:)

What’s your favourite way to style a Little Black Dress?

There are so many ways to style a LBD but my go to is wearing black boots with a leather jacket and red lips. So easy, comfortable yet sultry.;)

In addition to working as a Social Media Manager, Journalist, and blogger, you have been in involved in some very impressive collaborations and editorials with incredible brands and publications. How do you balance everything?

Thank you! Time management is key and I’m also a morning person so I get a lot to personal things done in the AM and then go to work.  My agency, Sircle Media, is awesome and very flexible with projects as well which is super helpful. Also lots and lots of coffee! Jk, but not really.

Can you describe your style in five words?

Whatever I’m feeling that day. 😉

Cali girl meets New York.

With the holidays coming up, it seems as though everyone making a wish-list! What’s currently on your wish-list?

Hmmmm that’s a toughie. Right now I don’t have anything on my wish list – I just want to spend the holidays with my family, friends and puppies back in California. Cannot wait:)

What is currently your favourite item in your wardrobe?

My new YSL wallet from AMUZE is everything. It’s my favorite hue of blue.

What is your perfect outfit for a night out?

For Winter I love some leather jeans or leggings, silk top and leather jacket with a fur vest. And I’m really into red lipstick lately – I feel like it makes any outfit “pop”.

Who is your celebrity style icon?

Hmmm I love Gisele Bunchen and Rosie Huntington Whiteley for their style, poise and of course they are stunning human beings. So effortlessly chic.

It is clear that you are a very busy lady! What can we expect to see from you in the final months of 2014? Any exciting projects coming up?

Lots of projects coming up! I am shooting a couple more campaigns this month and some will be going live soon as well. Really excited for everything:)

When Carly Heitlinger started her blog, The College Prepster, during her freshman year at Georgetown University, she never imagined it would be as big as it is. Now that she has graduated, Carly continues to run her blog from New York City, where she currently lives with her adorable puppy, Teddy. Documenting her love of monograms, cashmere, and Barbour jackets, The College Prepster always has something new and exciting for readers to see.

Read what happened when Snap talked to Carly about winter must-haves, starting a wardrobe from scratch, and fashion advice.

How to style a faux fur vest

You began The College Prepster while you were attending Georgetown University, and it has become huge! How did you build your brand and website to get to where you are now? Did you ever think it would be as big as it is?

When I started blogging, I had no idea what blogging and social media would become. “Social media” wasn’t even a buzzword at the time! It’s been really amazing to see how the industry has developed. For me, the key was always sticking to what I knew to be true for me and then making tweaks every now and then to stay current with the times.

For our readers who may not be familiar with it, how would you describe the “preppy” style?

You know, there are supposedly all these rules and regulations governed by this elusive group… but I think it’s really more a state a mind. I don’t think you need to come from a particular area or a particular family or have had a particular upbringing. If you like it, go for it.

With winter quickly approaching, what are some of your winter must-haves?

Riding boots, pretty wool coats, and all the cashmere.

What do you love most about blogging? What are some of the challenges you have come across?

I love the people I get to meet! One challenge is staying up to date with all the new apps and strategies and platforms; everything moves SO fast!

Monogrammed Crossbody

What is your favourite way to style a classic white button-down?

Under a sweater with my favorite jeans and riding boots!

If you had to start your wardrobe from scratch, what 5 things would you buy immediately?

The perfect pair of skinny jeans, two cashmere sweaters (grey and navy), a button up, a little black dress.

What’s the best piece of fashion advice you have been given?

The rule of three… like pairing a sweater with a blazer and a statement necklace.

Are there any fashion rules that you absolutely won’t break?

I try to never say never… I wear white jeans after Labor Day and mix navy with black!

Is there a quote that you live by?

Live your dreams!

Do you have any exciting projects coming up to bring 2014 to a close?

Right now, it’s mostly just gift guides and fun giveaways!

Once again, internationally famous (and fabulous!) supermodel Kate Moss will be featured on the cover of Vogue. The December issue of the magazine will have two different covers with the lovely Kate appearing on both. According to Vogue, the two covers show different sides of Kate- one being the glam model with Sixties-style makeup, while the other shows a more natural side with minimal makeup.

The magazine, which Kate partially edited, also features an article that gives insight into ‘Kate’s World.’ Vogue readers will be able to read about some of her favourite things, and see pictures of some of the men in her life!

We can’t wait to pick up a copy of the magazine and see a side of Kate we don’t often get to see!

Last week Snap Fashion were enough to meet the extremely talented designer, Mary Katrantzou.

Before meeting Mary, I would would have called her a fashion designer, but  listening to her talk I discovered that clothes are not the only thing she has in her vast design repertoire. She has created all sorts from lampshades to ballet costumes and is currently in the process of collaborating with Adidas to design trainers, so be sure to save your pennies as your feet will not want to miss out on these beauties!

Now for a whistle stop tour of her action packed life…

Mary Katrantzou was born in Athens in 1983 to an interior designer mother and a father who was a textile designer. So lets face it, design was her destiny. However, she has had an interesting time getting there, taking several detours along the way before reaching her current destination.  The most significant was probably her trip to America to study Architecture, which she re-routed to London when she decided to transfer to Central St Martins and finish her degree, only in Textile Design, not architecture.  Such a brave, and some may thing slightly mad, decision.  I don’t know about you,  but I am so glad she did it – I hate to think what the fashion industry would be like without her beautiful clothes and inspirational words.  After she graduated, Mary began her long and successful journey into the land of women’s wear, this time deciding to stay on at Central St Martins where, inspired by the female form,  she completed an MA in women’s wear and achieved nothing less than a distinction – her second from this world renowned design school.

Since then, Mary has been involved in countless astonishingly inspiring and gorgeous projects, both for her own line and working collaboratively alongside a whole load of big names. I am not going to make you jealous by listing all of the amazing things she has done or achieved, but instead here are a few to inspire you.  She has produced not one, not two, but three collections for Topshop, the most recent of which sold out in a record breaking 10 minutes. That’s  three times faster than Glastonbury, just to put it into perspective!  You may or may not have heard of them, but her client list includes the likes of Beyoncé and Rihanna! Not bad people to have on your CV!  She has also won a bunch of awards, far too long to list, but I suspect you may have got where I am going with this.

So, how did she get from selling eight dresses, one pair of trousers and a jacket on a single rail to being stocked in over 200 shops! Mary puts it down to three things. Alongside hard work and focus, she cites fearlessness as one of the key components of her success. Generously inspiring, Mary also shared some of her top tips and personal mantras with us, so get your pen and paper ready as you wont want to miss these:

-Uncertainty is exciting, don’t fear it.

-Natural evolution is key, so let your imagination run wild!

-Reassess at every step.

and finally, my favourite and probably Mary’s most valuable piece of advice:

– You’re not running the 100 meters, you’re running a marathon, so pace yourself and don’t worry about finding inspiration because it can and will come from anywhere, just be sure to always have an open mind.

Sisters Reem and Natalya Kanj are the two incredibly stylish and creative faces behind the fashion and lifestyle blog, Five Five Fabulous. The pair lives in two different cities, with Reem based in London and Natalya living in Dubai, but that doesn’t stop them from creating a blog full of style inspiration. Writing about their amazing travels and collaborations, Reem and Natalya document all of their hard work on the blog, and make us very jealous in the process!

Read what happened when Snap chatted with Reem, who runs the blog full-time, about collaborations, double denim, and how to get involved in the world of fashion blogging…

You have been involved in some pretty amazing collaborations with a variety of brands, including Louis Vuitton, Nike, HTC, and Ted Baker. What is your favorite part about being involved in all of these projects?

It’s always fun to work with the different creative teams, especially when the projects last for so long. You end up with some great friends and memories.

You travel around quite a bit (we’re very jealous!). Do you have a go-to travel outfit?

For the plane I’m always in something stretchy and comfortable. I can’t sit still so I need something that will be forgiving when I’m fidgeting so much! It’s usually baggy pants, a tee and something warm and oversized over the top. I don’t know how these celebs dress in leather and heels when travelling. No thank you!

Describe your style in five words.

Always dependent on my mood.

If we were to give you a basic white blouse, how would you style/wear it?

Either with skinny pants, preferably leather, a pair of sandals and a ponytail, or denim cut offs, sneakers and a duster coat.

Fashion-wise, is there anything you currently have your eye on?

I really want a new collection of knitwear, it’s such a staple for fall to have a really good quality knit, but I always end up buying shoes or bags instead of investing in super expensive sweaters and pullovers.

What’s your thoughts on double denim? Would you DD, if so how?

I have done before, it’s something that should be done subtly, I like the DD trend. I would do boyfriend jeans and a denim shirt, or skinny jeans and a denim jacket.

Reem Kanj

What autumn fashion trend are you most excited about?

I’m always up for a sporty trend so anything with a sport luxe vibe.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to get involved in the fashion industry and/or start his or her own fashion blog?

Get ready to work your butt off for not much in return. At the beginning it’s all about sacrificing your social life and working every opportunity you get. I’ve learned that consistency is a big thing and your natural love for the job should always shine through.

How do you plan to bring 2014 to a close? Any exciting projects coming up?

Right now, I am just trying to clear some schedule space to coincide with my fiancés so we can start planning our wedding!
