Top 3: Vinyl fashion with a 70s twist
Think 1970s vinyl and you might think records but we’re talking about awesome A-line skirts made from vinyl and patent leather.
I loved the vinyl, retro skirts seen on the AW13 catwalks at Topshop Unique and JW Anderson and the key to looking more Bond Street than Soho at night is length. Think boxy 1970s or 1950s flared (ok we cheated with our headline) rather than skin tight versions as seen at Versace this season – unless you’re feeling brave, look like a supermodel or charge by hour.
If you’re not feeling daring enough to wear patent leather or don’t fancy investing (let’s face it the cheap plastic versions look rubbish on the whole) then why not try a vinyl-inspired look on your eyes?
Makeup artist to the stars Charlotte Tilbury has done an incredible make-up tutorial on YouTube –we’re hooked on her channel, you can even see Cara Delevingne play the drums.
She uses super expensive and beautiful Tom Ford products but you can find dupes on the high street. Sleek does amazingly pigmented powders and Vaseline will get you that slick vinyl look.
And why stop there? I’m in love with a jacket from Topshop and have seen plenty of people strutting their stuff in quirky patent boots instead of standard court shoes.
