  1. Chanel: Victoria Beckham, Scotland + that exhibition

While Chanel is known for its evolving classics and constant innovation, the fashion house has been super busy of late and has chalked up a trio of obsessions for us in the past week alone!

    1)      Those photos of Victoria Beckham at Chanel’s spiritual home, 31 Rue Cambon. Just how incredible does she look? VB joins Karl Lagerfeld for a super glam photo shoot for Elle France. Interestingly VB only wears Chanel jewellery, teamed with a Lanvin sweater, Eres undies and Giuseppe Zanotti Design skyscraper heels. Pas de pearls! She also wears a white Fendi shirt, Sergio Rossi stilettos and a skirt from her own collection to pose alone.

    2)      From Paris to Scotland, a secret location near Edinburgh will host Chanel’s always-fabulous Métiers d’Art show this December – let’s hope Karl et al wrap up warm! It’s amazing to think that the first Métiers d’Arts catwalk show only took place 9 years ago but since then it’s a key part of the annual fashion calendar and enables Chanel to show off the extravagant work of its 10 highly skilled artisan manufacturers. One might suppose that the show will have a Scottish theme (Karl does love a kilt) and Chanel has even safeguarded 200 jobs at Barrie Knitwear, which it has just acquired.

    3)      And a final note to say that if you live anywhere near Chelsea in London you HAVE to go to the Little Black Jacket exhibition. We ventured to the Saatchi Gallery on Sunday morning and had a wonderful time browsing the huge selection of stylish portraits and lusting after the world’s most versatile jacket. P.S. the gift shop is totally amazing for Christmas presents!

  2. Victoria Beckham brings flares back

We’ve lost count of the times that we’ve been told that skinny jeans are due to be replaced by flares/wide trousers/anything else, but maybe that will be about to change for real as trend setter Victoria Beckham has been spotted out and about in indigo wash flares. I love her glam-meets-casual look and am a sucker for the seventies, especially having gone gaga for Hedi Slimane’s Saint Laurent collection at PFW- so I’m sold! Who’s jumping on the flared bandwagon with me?

  3. Middletons + Victoria Beckham take Wimbledon

Our nerves are slightly frayed watching the Wimbledon final, so we are pleased that we can be distracted by the occasional glimpse of well-dressed guests. Blow-out hair is THE trend at Centre Court with Andy Murray’s gf Kim Sears and the Middleton sisters sporting tastefull tresses, but I am loving the Posh and Becks show…and VB is wearing her own fashion line…game, set, natch.

Kate’s Wimbledon whites are by Joseph (accessorised with a DvF leopard clutch and on-trend cats-eye glasses), while Pippa opts for a peplum dress by Project D.

  4. Victoria Beckham vs Topshop

Ok, here’s one I loved so much I bought it. I’ve been obsessed with Victoria Beckham’s drop waist shift dresses for a while and she has perfected ‘polished but playful’. So I almost ran to the till in Topshop with my new VB-inspired dress. The fabric is great quality the tailored shape sharp and yet a little soft and the frill, totally fun and faltering. The best bit is that despite being tomato coloured, this dress can be styled in SO many ways.

The new ‘perfect’ dress: Drop Waist Shift Dress £42 from Topshop

Here are my 5 top ways to style it

1 – For summer in the office team with white courts a la Celine (Zara do a great pair) a white or snakeskin clutch and white tux jacket.

2- For a bbq or fun in the sun, try a little clashy clashy. I plan on nabbing a neon necklace, big bright raffia sandals and accessorizing with hot pink or tangerine if I’m feeling brave.

3-For an evening out I’ll throw on a fitted black leather biker jacket, killer shoe boots and House of Holland starry tights. Chunky gold jewellery and a studded clutch would be cool.

4- To do the polished VB thing I will succumb to sensible leg-lengthening nude court shoes, simple Breton stripe clutch bag, big 70s-style Chloe sunglasses and a classic beige mac if it rains.

5- For a retro twist, I will wear this a-mazing dress with my fav silver fifties-style sling backs, a boxy lady-like handbag (I was envious of the queen last weekend) and big cats-eye glasses. If only I had a navy Chanel or Marni classic jacket to go with it!

  5. Victoria Beckham watch: Range Rover launch

Victoria Beckham is a master of self-promotion and has used her Beijing trip as a catwalk for her designs. She was officially there to show off the new ‘baby’ Range Rover – the Evoque, which VB apparently pimped in a limited edition way. They are on sale for around £80k and there are only 200 of them (as an eco-friendly kinda girl I’ll pass!) Welcome to the VB show…
