  1. Best dressed: Serpentine summer party

Where: Party at Kensington Gardens in London at the annual Serpentine Gallery party

Who: Celebs and models – arty like.

Style notes: Lots of Chanel, studs and metallics vs floaty boho dresses and vintage beading.

    Here’s out heavenly seven:

    Cara Delevingne wears Chanel (well!)

Laura Bailey works the metallic trend

Holly Valance looks super shiny in last season’s D&G

    Stud-tastic – Jade Jagger

    Amber le Bon goes boho

I love this look on Suki Waterhouse

My fav look: stylist Caroline Sieber’s vintage Chanel. J’adore.

  2. MFW: all that glitters – Versace vs Blumarine

There are certain Italian labels *cough Versace* that we can count on to provide studded, metallic, sequinned fabulousness for when more is more.

Versace stuck to slinky silver with mesh and sequin detail – this time more space age knights than underwater mermaid – whereas Blumarine opted for neon, translucent jackets, silver and pale blue metallic reptilian accessories, skinny trousers with voluminous puffer jackets, bright furry coats or slick biker styles. Brash is back…did it ever leave?

    The nineties but kinda spacey

    Cara Delevingne silver jacket

    Kick-ass booties

Lemon yellow continues into winter - yay!

It's kinda trashy but in a good way, non?

    Space age Versace

    Scary hair cut!

    And again...

  3. Top 10 trends of 2011 : Part 2

    6-COLOUR BLOCKING

While fashion folks might have used the term blocking before, this summer, everyone was going on about ‘colour blocking’ and we were all dressing in plain bright coloured clothes- with the more adventurous mixing lurid and clashing colours.

    7-PRINT

While plain and bright was the order of the day, thick colour-block horizontal stripes (particularly good on pencil skirts and silk t-shirts – thanks Prada!) were also big news, as well as polka-dots and clashing prints in vivid colours.

    Stripy x Baroque sunnies!

    8-NAVAJO + PC PROBLEMS

A big debate has ranged about whether fashion people can call stuff ‘Navajo’ in a year where Vogue Italia put its foot in it big time over hoop earrings. Fashion/cultural terms aside, we liked Isabel Marant’s take on Navajo-inspired design, leather fringing and ponchos.

    9-FETISH

Louis Vuitton’s fetish collection inspired a whole lot of us relatively conservatively-dressed lot to embrace leather skirts and studded slippers (so I eschewed the corsets and PVC…not handy for work!) and for me, the collection, as well as the models dressed up in the look with balloon dogs, at Vuitton’s flagship London store for FNO, is one of the most memorable trends of 2011.

From our FNO night - great experience!

    10- THE CATWALK DRESS

Without doubt one of the celebrity favourites and most ripped-off looks on the high street is Stella McCartney’s Illusion dress. This item alone will be remembered as part of the fashion fabric of the past year. Props to Stella for creating a super flattering modern classic.

  4. Top 5 studded fashion pieces: “Tell me about it, stud”

All fashion folk know that the fetish trend has been huge this autumn and winter, but I have seen relatively few people clad in PVC heel-less boots and bone-crunching corsets (thank goodness!) but leather skirts (as expertly modelled by Ashley Tisdale + Miranda Kerr) are a simple way to rock the look. However, my favourite way to add a hint-of-fetish to an outfit is studded accessories.

Of course the ultimate studded accessories hail from Hermes, but we’ve found some gems on the high street of late and River Island is obsessed with spiky shoes – v Sam Edelman-esque. Studded accessories are great for toughening up party frocks and killer spiky shoes are always a winner when teamed with black skinny jeans.

  5. MFW: Model takes a tumble at Versace

Model Lindsey Wixson is the latest model to take a tumble on this year’s catwalks – and who can blame her in those skyscraper perspex shoes?

The Inspiration: Under the sea; particularly starfish and Versace (studded) heritage.

The Look: Lots of body con and studs for the classically sexy Versace silhouette. Pale pastels, white, metallics, studs and that lemon yellow – which has been seen everywhere!

Best Bit: We actually loved Lindsey’s dress (and the fact she smiled after her probably painful mishap) Oh and that lemon dress with lazer cut detail, as seen at Giles Deacon.

Notes: FYI there were 2 walking problems at LFW – one model tripped over her gown at Amanda Wakeley’s show and another got her stiletto caught in a fishnet knit dress at Mark Fast.

P.S. anyone else getting excuted about Versace for H&M now?

    All pics The DM.

    Lindsey looking incredible

Post tumble - check out those super high heels!

All the models had difficult shoes to negotiate - we love the perspex and seahorse!

Lindsey makes light of her mishap!

    Love the studded starfish

  6. A/W 11′s Fiercest Footwear by Sam Edelman

We love Sam Edelman’s feisty studded footwear and the website we’ve spotted them on The Coggles. We’ll leave you to drool over these amazingly fierce shoes – perfect to match A/W’s fetish theme…if you dare.

Renzo Putty Boots by Sam Edelman (also come in black)

    Kooky stud detailing

Classic courts with a kick - Lorissa Black Shoes by Sam Edelman

Perfect for toughening up the most classic LBD £180

We’re not usually a huge fan of racy adverts but LOVE these courts with silver stud details – a little like walking on broken glass (if you’re old enough like us to remember that Eurythmics tune).

New meaning to putting a record on.

We’re dedicated to helping our Snaplings find look-a-like fashion picks on the high street and we’re launching our website and app to help you search for clothes by pictures, not words asap. But until then you’ll have to trust us that these Topshop courts for £80 are the closest we could find. They’re not bargain-bin cheap but do tap into this winter’s cheekiest trend with their gold stiletto heels and stud detailing. Meow!
