Lauren Conrad’s pink ponytail
Ponytail’s are massive fashion news this summer and Lauren Conrad’s is fabulously pink. Love it?

I spend a lot of time reading blogs and slightly less-commercial or foreign fashion magazines (geek) and stumbled across this editorial from Wonderland starring Charlotte Free. This spring print clashing is back (again) and this shoot by Elena Redina for the Nov/Dec 11 issue takes it to a whole new level. Serious inspiration – although I don’t think I’d attempt anything similar for a dash round the supermarket.

2011 has been one hell of a year for fashion and here are our top 10 trends (in no particular order). Which were your favourites?
1-SEQUINS + STARS
Dolce & Gabbana were responsible to the glut of sequins and stars on the high street (thank you!) We’re betting a LOT of Christmas party and NYE outfits are based on this stellar trend and those star dresses have been seen on practically every magazine cover and celebs like Beyonce.
2-NEW HEMLINES + TROUSERS
We’ve lived in skinny jeans for years now (and I for one will not be giving them up without a fight) but this year we have been encouraged to try a kick-flare and 1970s palazzo pants. Maxi dresses and maxi skirts have also been huge- whether ethereal and floaty in bright colours for summer or grungy staples teamed with cropped jumpers for winter.
3-CRAZY HAIR
London hair salon Bleach has been taking the fashion world by storm as various celebs experimented with dip-dyes, blue rinses and bright pink tresses. Celeb round-up here! Nail art has also been massive.
4-METALLICS + FUTURISTIC FABRICS
One of the highlights of my year was seeing Christopher Kane and being able to wear glitter and metallic clothing in the day-time without looking over dressed. For me, Kane’s Gel bag is an iconic accessory of 2011 (hear about the inspiration here) and I’m super chuffed that metallics will continue to be big this spring.
5-DESIGNER COLLABORATIONS
There have been so many (and we’re not counting celebrities turned designers – see Victoria Beckham for this year’s biggest success story!) We really liked Alexa Chung’s Madewell collection but the biggest mash-up obviously has to be Versace x H&M. We can’t wait for the spring instalment and Marni in 2012.
As we look at the top trends of 2011, one hair trend stands out above all others and it’s pink! From Katy Perry to Barbie, planet celeb has been thinking pink and our favourite to rock the hot hairstyle is Fearne Cotton – has managed to go pink TWICE this year!
The best news is that you can try it yourself on a temporary basis and go for the dip-dye look with pastel colours- another related and huge hair trend of 2011 – see Kate Bosworth for inspiration.

We’re not a beauty blog but the trend for neon hair and clothing has been so strong of late (check out Christopher Kane’s denim line for J-Brand) that we couldn’t ignore this hair product.
We’ve already waxed lyrical about the celeb’s love of dip-dyed and pastel-coloured hair – Fearne Cotton, Katy Perry and lots more celebs are fans of pink hair and this trend seems set to stick through next Spring too.
While Bleach hairdressers is doing a roaring trade in dip dyes etc, it seems there is demand for a more temporary look and Australian celeb hairdresser Kevin Murphy has just launched the Color.Bug for weekend colour craziness without the commitment.
The best bit is, that the hair shadow is applied to dry hair (just rub with a product- wax, serum or texture spray) so it sticks then use hairspray to hold it in place. Voila- pink hair. Apparently different effects can be achieved by using different products and a hairdryer after application – for a less neon finish.
While this looks great for parties, we’re not completely sold on the seemingly dry texture and aren’t convinced the colour wouldn’t rub off onto clothes. But it does look like fun. What do you think?
Fearne hit Koko for her last night as a 20-something with a new candyfloss pink hairdo, tapping into the brightly coloured hair trend with just the right hint of pink (scroll down for b’day pics).
Her style icons are: “Chloe Sevigny and Florence Welch – they both pull out incredible pieces on the red carpet,” according to Very blurb from a while back. She also LOVES Vivienne Westwood designs, which is hardly surprising, but while Fearne can indulge in plenty of designer clobber these days she’s always being snapped in high street and vintage finds.
There’s no doubt that Fearne can pull off glamour, but we love her casual look and are addicted to her Radio One show fashion blog. Fearless fashion sense that’s individual to her, battered converse, fun adaptations of the latest trends, fabulous hair, a penchant for funky accessories, just the right amount of grunge and always smiling- Fearne Cotton we salute you!

While she might be incredibly sucessful, everyone still likes Fearne as she’s so down-to-earth and her 30th birthday tweets made us chuckle.
“30 is great so far. Eating delicious brekkie, listening to Bowie loudly and still have pink hair!”
“Mum’s music mix at the party is brilliantly hilarious. So far we’ve had ABBA, Chris Isaac, and Boston.”
“Last night’s party was unreal. All my fave people in the world raving in mums garden. I feel horrendous today but am grinning from ear to ear.”
And finally check out this to-die-for cake… Happy Birthday Fearne!
