  1. Oscars best dressed: the pale and interesting edit

Perfect for spring, pale pinks, fresh whites and subtle lilacs and mauves were favourite choices for actresses at the Oscars last night. We won’t go on about who won what (everybody knows!) so instead we’ve rounded up some favourite frocks worn by attendees of the awards and various glamorous parties going on as Hollywood gives itself its annual pat on the back.

  4. Kate Bosworth rocks dip dye hair for Company

I’m feeling the strangest sense of deja-vu. Have you seen Company magazine’s May cover? Kate Bosworth is looking great as usual – but with the sane dip-dyed hair as last summer. Is she re-visiting the aqua dip dye look or was this shot ages ago?

Whatever the case we’re excited to see her appear in  L!fe Happens alongside equally stylish Rachel Bilson and Lauren Conrad. Woohoo!

  6. LFW day 4: Burberry vs McQ *super-huge-post!*

Excuse my tardiness with these posts; the past week has been crazy! Two heavy-weights of London’s fashion scene showed on day 4 of LFW and we certainly weren’t disappointed. But which was your favourite?

How can I tell you how much I loved the Burberry show? It was all my favourite things about winter clothing rolled into one – the exception being the pesky peplum – but I’ll let that slide!

I have fallen head-over-heels in love with the cute velvet and silk elasticised bow belts (added to winter want-list) and our CTO will be thrilled that there were owl prints…she LOVES all things owl. But personal taste aside it was lovely – and very British – that a sense of humour was mixed in with Burberry’s impeccably understated but luxurious fabrics.

We loved the sumptuous quilted purple velvet coat Cara Delevingne wore to close the show and the padded jackets- all pulled in at the waist with the cutest belts. These bulky show-stoppers were teamed with neat pencil skirts in woollen and nubbly fabrics with tucked in tees and jumpers with the occasional ruffled shirt thrown into the mix too.

There was emphasis on the hips (again) with the tricky peplum trend still in vogue but the billowing shirts and cute jumpers were super wearable. Just get me one-to-go! Then of course there was the tweed, cord and traditional mac fabric, which only Burberry makes its own, all in beautiful autumnal shades of plum, mustard, brown, burgundy and olive – tasty.

Accessories-wise the show was strong with fox faces and birds everywhere and big bags back in town (yes!), while ribbed tights teamed with fierce stiletto boots showed the Burberry girl still means business.

    Coat of my dreams!

    Beautiful finale

Styling tip: tuck it all in and add a bow belt

    Hips are hip

    Details show the superb quality

    The only acceptable padded coat?!

Cara Delevinge - Burberry's poster girl

    HOOT!!!

Lucky Kate Bosworth has already got the look!

And so on to McQ by McQueen – the first collection to grace the LFW catwalk. While the Burberry girl can snuggle in a quilted voluptuous coat, the McQ girl is going out to do battle in a sharp military number. Khaki and leather made the coats extra fierce as did the super scary boots! Apparently they took an age to lace up properly.

However, strapless tartan dresses, lace and velvet softened the collection and guess what…more emphasis on the hips, which is turning out to be a big trend for next season. The craftsmanship of the pieces really shone through as did the dramatic silhouettes of nipped in waists. Final thought: military chic gets a little romantic.

Hair looks like a hat too!

Love this burgundy and floral dress

I do like this military style dress

  8. Lana Del Rey, Juno Temple + Kate Bosworth at Mulberry LA party

What is a Mulberry party without a few novelty infallible animals and a truck load of celebrities eh? Mulberry threw one hell of a bash at LA’s legendary Chateau Marmont after revealing pretty incredible profits.

Burberry posted pre-tax profits of £15.6m in its half year results – that’s a 231% rise! The boost is apparently due to phenomenal demand for its lush handbags overseas.

But back to the celebs…Kate Bosworth rocked an SS12 dress with cute studded courts, while Juno Temple looked amazing in a studded denim dress and Lana Del Rey performed in a beautiful sheer number.

  9. Style Crush: Kate Bosworth + her amazing off duty style

Kate Bosworth cannot put a fashionable foot wrong – she wears looks straight off the catwalk to keep the red carpet interesting and also makes impeccable off-duty casual dressing look effortless.

A devotee of skinny jeans, Kate’s style is relaxed, a little quirky t times but always a little polished too. While she always embraces the trends (see the dip dyed blue hair) she knows what works for her body shape and there are hundreds of pictures of a skinny jeans/top/scarf combos out there on the internet.

While she’s known for Hollywood blockbusters, Kate has just starred in a short film for French fashion label Vanessa Bruno and it’s incredibly beautiful. Voila!
