  1. Stylistpick’s trainers are HOT!

Trainers/sneakers have been seriously big news this season, which is awesome as they’re comfy and on-trend…which doesn’t happen that often.

The even better news is that Stylistpick (a Snap Fashion affiliate so you can shop via our app – www.snapfashion.co.uk) is channelling some of the hottest trends and you can totally afford their versions of this season’s designer modern classics. First off, you can get the bedazzled sneaker Miu Miu look for £40. These sneakers are rather brilliant for dancing when heels get too much as well as jazzing up a pair of skinny jeans.

Stylistpick’s Hays sneakers – get ‘em quick!

The real deal from Miu Miu- around £300 and available from Net-a-Porter

Then there’s the wedge trainers, which are totally Isabel Marant inspired and add a shot of colour to any outfit, which is no bad thing this gloomy December.

  2. Election fashion special: stars and stripes

We’re writing this while glued to the news* and waiting for news of who will be the new President of the USA. Regardless of the result, we’re gripped by election fever and to celebrate, here’s some stylish stars and stripes, from classic flag type shorts that look great with opaque black tights and plimsols to on-trend velvet and sheer tees that tap into the gothic trend.

*Okay result in, congratulations to President Barack Obama and didn’t the family all look great on the podium for the victory speech!

Classic! Topshop have a good choice of stars and stripes shorts! We love this bleached pair by MOTO

  3. Top 5: Bomber jackets

Isabel Marant sent a wonderfully retro kitch-made-cool bomber jacket down the catwalk last summer and now stars like Lana Del Rey and Jessie J are keeping the trend well and truly alive. While Varsity –look jackets can still be found, we love the floral print and scarf print offerings on the high street that are a cheap and chic outfit updater and can be worn with your favourite pair of skinny jeans or shorts with minimum effort. Style with hi-tops for bonus urban style brownie points!

The trend setter. Thank you Isabel Marant (check out the pastel jeans too!) SS11 indeed.

The one to keep long-term.Graphic weave bomber jacket by Topshop Boutique £130

I adore this Lulu & Co Christopher Shannon Squiggle bomber jacket £290 from ASOS

    Lana favours the Varsity look

But I favour florals. This print is amazing up-close and reminds me of Paul Smith. Zara printed bomber jacket £29.99

But I also like Topshop's Intricate Mirror Floral bomber jacket for £48

  4. Miranda Kerr breaks fashion rules in Isabel Marant

There are so many fashion ‘rules’ that only the most stylish can break and look amazing. I am a firm believer in ‘red and green must never be seen’ except in exceptional circumstances and do you remember the going out rule- short skirt or low/see-through top…never both?

Trust a Victoria’s Secret model to break this golden rule and still look amazing. Miranda rocks a sheer Isabel Marant top and short denim skirt. I think what stops it looking too try-hard is that the sheer top is high cut and the ensemble casual- with a smart tailored blazer on top, and boots instead of heels.

Does she get away with it?

    Love it?

  5. PFW: the return of the LBD

Thank you Paris our prayers have been answered. So many girls chase trends (us included) and spend hours putting together the perfect ‘going out’ ensemble, when the classic little black dress makes us feel great each time. After a long absence from the catwalk, we spied some beautiful examples of perfect LBDs. Want!

    Classy Dior

Chanel goes a little spacey - I'd lose the trousers and stick to high court shoes but Kagerfeld must know best!

    Effortlessly sexy at Isabel Marant

    Sheer perfection at Nina Ricci

I love the classic shape of this Roland Mouret number

    A fluted affair at Valentino

  6. PFW: sheer + sexy

We’ve already gone crazy for the super soft pastels and feminine pieces on the Paris catwalk and now we bring you sheer and sexy – a key trend in Milan too. From fine lace and exposing sheer mesh to chainmail and supersized crochet, designers definitely want us to dare to bare…even in the winter!

    Edgy at Balenciaga

Artistic (but impractical) skirts at Chanel

Floaty and romantic at See by Chloe

This futuristic Galliano number has beautiful movement

I love this chainmail at Yves Saint Laurent

Amazing crochet detail at Alexander McQueen

Sheer panels and burgundy (so lovely) Nina Ricci

    Slightly folk-y at Isabel Marant

  7. Heavenly 7 flatforms: riding high or falling short?

Oh the flatform- shoe flavour of SS12. On one level they totally appeal to me – extra height for minimal pain…yes please! But they alas also remind me of the Spice Girls a little and if you try a pair on with skinny jeans they look MASSIVE! Maybe I should investigate further with skirts – I would defintely make an excpetion for these Etro beauties! Has anyone jumped onboard this rather tall trend train?

LOVE! Suede-appliquéd wedge sandals £610 from Etro

Ticking the sporty and metallic trends- ASOS Vinnie flatforms £40

  8. Blake Lively for US Elle: sports luxe

I’ve just read an article in Glamour magazine saying that out of all the SS12 trends men like the sports luxe look best…and we bet this cover featuring Blake Lively in a sport Victoria Beckham mini dress will be quite popular too.

I love the sports details starting to trickle into high street stores, but for me this shoot is just a little too lads’ mag. Sports luxe works best with clean lines, crisp fabrics and bright colours so while Blake undoubtedly looks great, I’ll be skipping the mesh/fishnet extras and just-out-of-the-shower hair.

Having said that, I love the front cover where Blake looks super polished in a Victoria Beckham dress…and the Alexander Wang jumper and ski pants look.

    What do you think?

    The cover look

    Love this look too

    Too mens' mag?

Love the catwalk but not the editorial

  9. Six spring shoes to die for!

If money was no object here are six shoes I would LOVE in my giant shoebox (nice name for big storage crate) for spring. While I love a heel I find them more fun to look at than walk in so really, I should just opt for Carven’s jingle flats (or a cheaper equivalent), but my heart belongs to Prada. *Sigh*

Isabel Marant ticks the comfort, height and cool box (of course) - great for a take on Spring's sporty trend

Nicholas Kirkwood's amazing colour block courts for Roksanda Illinic

Cute Carven flats (would the bells be annoying?!)

Metalics, pastels and futuristic perspex - Dries van Noten scores a trend hat-trick

Balmain's Matador boot would be my go-to party boot (if I had the chance!)

Last but not least- 1950s perfection from Prada

  10. Top 3 wedge trainers

Much like the crop top trend (thanks a bunch Topshop et al) I have mixed feelings about wedge trainers, as being a 1990s teen I have been there, read the book and got the (colour changing) t-shirt. Having said that, there is room in my life for these Isabel Marant numbers…they do remind me slightly of those self-lacing ones from Back to the Future.

The wedged trainer fall into Spring’s ‘sports luxe’ trend and would make a pair of skinny jeans current, while Elle also recommends pairing them with a leather skirt or denim mini dress for the warmer weather.

Surely this look will be a huge hit with the hipsters in Shoreditch, near Snap Fashion HQ. We’ll keep you posted!
