  1. White shoes – now chic – here’s how

Navigating the white shoe trend was tricky at first. There was a chance that you might be mistaken as an extra in TOWIE if you got it a bit wrong, but when you see them on the Celine runway and read that Vogue’s editor is a fan, you know it’s a fashion ‘thing’.

Writing a column for The Daily Mail, Alexandra Shulman sums up their appeal – “the hint of bad taste that is an intrinsic part of their charm” and their “utter devil-may-care impracticality”– especially in the drizzly UK. And naturally they have been embraced by celebs, who unlike us mere mortals need not negotiate dirty London pavements.

Whilst Rihanna wears hers with utility wear and countless bloggers team them with denim for some unexpected sex appeal, Gwyneth Paltrow rocks hers with an LBD for ‘an element of surprise’.

So assuming you use Snap Fashion to identify a suitably chic pair of white stilettos (not too high, suitably pointy with absolutely no embellishment) that are oh-so-Celine and similar to Manolo Blahniks’s perfect pair, here are Alexandra’s top rules-ish.

*Whatever you do don’t wear them exposing lots of flesh! This is for WAGs and TOWIE girls only. They stiletto is a sexy pop in an otherwise practical outfit.

*“Anyone considering wearing them with a pair of shorts on holiday should have their passport revoked (unless you are Alexa Chung).” We completely agree. A deep fake tan with white shoes can look a bit to 1980s and if you do wear them with a skirt, it’s best that it’s swishy and feminine or office appropriate and for the hemline to graze the knee – or there abouts.

Team white stilettos with slim cropped trousers or rolled-up boyfriend jeans to draw attention to your ankles. They look great with the minialist and monochrome trends.

Channel Celine and team your white shoes with a super luxurious-looking camel or wool coat, or wear them with metallics for a modern under-the-sea look.

Not strictly a court shoe but so cool – The Man Repeller, Leandra Medine – natch. One of our fav blogs.

On the runway a la AW12 Celine. J’adore.

Christian Louboutin’s python white pumps are b.e.a.u.tiful but cost £600+. We found a super chic and retro-styled pair from LK Bennet and a simple style from Topshop using Snap Fashion. Oh yeah.

Diane Kruger manages to pull off her white shoes with a short but demure mini dress

I love Rihanna’s cool and casual look

Gwyneth rocks the minimalist trend. Her shoes are by Stella McCartney.

A snap from Vogue’s best-dressed blog. Who would have thought you could team white stilettos with leather trous and looks so classy? #Skills

  2. Little blue pyjama dress: Stella McCartney vs Mango

Stella McCartney’s SS12 collection of soft pyjama shaped styles in blue micro motifs has to be one of the most influential collections on the high street this summer – look-a-likes are everywhere and we are crazy for Zara’s pyjama trous.

We spotted this amazing dress in Mango and like that it is very much inspired by McCartney (especially the use of scrolled shapes) but not 100% plagiarised. It lets us mere mortals get our hands on a similar dress to those currently favoured by Gwyneth Paltrow and Rosie Huntington Whiteley at least.

Stella’s dress is a hit with Gwyneth

    A little bit Stella?

  3. Met Ball: Prada Girls

As you’ll know by now it was The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s benefit last night and the stars and designers were out in force to celebrate the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition. So guess what? Loads of people wore Prada- including Anna Wintour! [insert joke here]

  4. Heavenly 7: Oscars dresses

So we’re a little behind, but for those who can’t get enough of Hollywood glamour, here’s our Oscars edit and it includes some dresses that the critics panned. Oh well.  P.S. We missed Kristen Stewart and Maggie Gyllenhaal :(

    Which is your fav frock?

Sophisticated but still cute: Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli

Felicity Jones looks fierce in Johanna Johnson

Super Gwyneth in a cape! By Tom Ford - oh yes.

Kate Bosworth in what we think might be Marchesa?

A tricky dress by Louis Vuitton. Some hated it but we salute you Michelle Williams

The pose to strike next time. Pose aside, Angelina OWNS this Versace classic

  5. Statement trousers at must at Stella McCartney’s 40th birthday party (take 2)

Being a queen of fashion, Stella McCartney is allowed to have several birthday parties and her second bash at a pub in Notting hill certainly had a stellar turnout – Kate Moss, Olivia Harrison and Liv Tyler, joined Stella in rocking some statement trousers,  while Cameron Diaz, Gwen Stefani and Gwyneth Paltrow kept it simple in black.

Birthday girl (again) Stella chooses sequinned trous

Kate Moss does leopard print to purfection (we've spotted similar in Zara)

Liv Tyler shows leather leggings can look oh so classy

Olivia Harrison looks super elegant in striped-detail trousers

Meanwhile, those who didn’t opt for statement trousers looked great too.

Cameron Diaz always looks classic but amazing

Gwen glams up with a Blair Waldorf-style hairband

Gwyneth sticks to a tried-and-tested blaxer combo
