  1. LFW: Day 4

On day 4 I went to the Hushan Zhang presentation (separate blog coming up) and it was one of my favourite collections of LFW for many reasons, which I will gush about later. But for now, here’s some amazing looks from Day 4.

    • Peter Pilotto’s Spanish style boxy bolero jackets – the embroidery was influenced by the works of Spanish renaissance artists.
    • The fabulous capes of Antonio Berardi. On my wish-list (or at least something similar – try using www.SnapFashion.co.uk to find yours!)
    • Erdem’s sexy boucle and lace combos and of course his delicious wintery florals – violet and lemon – yum.

Three very different looks. That’s what LFW’s all about.

Burberry’s transparent trench coats and cute heart prints were super alongside luxe camel and leather with lots of eyelet detailing. It’s love!

    Burberry: Cara and details

I couldn’t wear it but I adored Tom Ford’s glam, maximalist colour and print clashing – a real departure from his last collection. Maybe the craziness of London has rubbed off on him.

J.W. Anderson’s masterful mixing of women’s and menswear was plain to see. He’s also joined the dress/skirt with trousers club and I detect a bit of nineties influence in the collection.

Giles’ golden lazer-cut pieces and other-worldly flowing dresses were impressive but I didn’t like the beauty look – effective and brooding yes, but I thought it made the models look tired!

Christopher Kane’s kilts and floral appliqué pieces were some of my favourites of this season (so far!) I enjoyed the glam take on camouflage print, leather fastening details, beautiful silk maxi skirts with super soft knits and so much more. If I had the cash, I’d snap up a lot of this collection!

Michael van der Ham made holey knackered material into an art form, but I loved his patterned more polished pieces in rich blues and mossy greens.

A van der Ham Sandwich! (Christopher Kane on either side)

  2. V&A exhibition: ball gowns: British Glamour since 1950

Major fashion exhibition alert! The V&A has reopened its Fashion Galleries and to celebrate there is a massive exhibition on post 1950s ball gowns to celebrate. Displayed over two floors, there are red carpet numbers, catwalk favourites and royal balls.

The show covers 60 years of British fashion and there are pieces from Jonathan Saunders, Alexander McQueen, Giles Deacon, Erdem and more. Oh and a number of frocks from the royals and celebs, including: Bianca Jagger and Liz Hurley as well as a one-off created especially for the show by Gareth Pugh. I love the idea of seeing the dresses and knowing who wore them so some reason. We can’t wait to go!

If you’re a fan of red carpet dresses, you need to get your gloved hands on the £20 hardback book to accompany the exhibition. Bargain!

  3. LFW day 4: winter florals with Erdem and Christopher Kane

It was a matter of time. When has there ever been a winter without flowers in the fashion world? However, we’re focusing on the moody purple flowers at Erdem and Christopher Kane. Yummy.

We’ve already waxed lyrical about Mr Kane (no encouragement needed) and I am crossing my fingers that the high street takes notes and produces lots of pretty purple florals for tough girls this coming winter. I also loved the Japanese-look flowers on the beaded black dress. Behold the wonder…

The one I want for every party next season

At Erdem lace gowns met cocoon coats Peggy Guggenheim style (apparently). As expected there were plenty of sexy florals with lace prints that were not in the least bit sugary, mainly thanks to the structured shapes.

Check out our take on the LFW trends here!

  4. Elle Style Awards: seductive sheer vs playful print

Thank goodness for the Elle Style Awards. We’ve been struggling all week to find amazing red carpet looks for you, despite the Grammys and Baftas both coming around. But finally we have some styles that are original and fun as well as super glamourous.

Plenty of people have gone gaga for Alexa Chung’s trouser suit but (I’m being super brave here) despite loving Alexa and Stella McCartney, who designed the suit, it kind of left me cold…too sensible perhaps?

So instead we bring you the sheer and seductive versus the playful print. Whose team are you on?

  6. Closet Collage … love!

We’re on Tumbr (at last) so if you can’t get enough of us you can follow us there too for our personal fashion loves and random pictorial inspiration… http://snapfashion.tumblr.com/

And while we were looking around we discovered ‘closet collage’ which is pretty amazing. We absolutely love the collages of Erdem and Matthew Williamson’s floral inspired SS12 collections.

  7. Top 7: Winter florals in bloom

You know the drill, bright (occasionally ditzy) floral prints in summer and muted sometimes graphic flowers for the winter. Here are 7 of our favourite florals to throw into the mix with your winter staples. We love putting flowers with grungy essentials like chunky knits to give an unexpected feminine twist to outfits.

  8. H&M Conscious Collection must-haves

Here at Snap Fashion we LOVE ethical fashion and admire big companies that strive to use more environmentally-friendly material. What we aren’t so keen on is typically ‘green’ you know- really homemade-looking rainbow jumpers, shapeless itchy hemp dress etc. So we’re thrilled that H&M has launched its latest Conscious Collection and that it’s super pretty!

Think Erdem with a touch of Victoriana- cool Swedish whites and rich Autumnal florals and the best bit is that the collection is made from recycled wool, organic cotton, linen, (nice) hemp and this stuff called Tencel. I have a Tencel top from H&M and it feels like heavy silky cotton and is seriously comfortable (but don’t ask me what it is exactly!)

Recycled wool + embroidery detail = so high end

We adore the cream lacy dresses and pencil skirt, which would look amazing with either leather or a cosy Autumn knit and love the embroidery on a number of the recycled wool pieces, which look so much more luxurious than the high street price tags.

Will DEF be snapping this up! Pencil skirt £35

We can’t wait to see the collection in the flesh (it launches tomorrow) and paw at the recycled loveliness ourselves. Tell us what you think and check out the video!

How luxe would this beauty look with a cable knit and cute heeled boots? Skirt £34.99

We NEED this £59.99 dress for parties and casual (excuse for accessories buying) and it's a little Kate Middleton

  9. LFW: Samantha Cameron + Anna Wintour in grown-up Erdem FROW

Sophistication and subtle sparkles were key in Erdem Moralioglu’s blue collection. Lace and his signature delicate floral prints were sometimes encrusted with tiny sequins to make gowns sparkle in a magical way without looking too glittery.

Models wore ladylike gloves and hats in the Savoy’s elegant blue ballroom, with its grown-up front row. Bute there were provocative pieces too with super small shorts and tight bustiers with cut out details – fear not younger fashionistas!

    Love this off-the-shoulder shift shape

    Sexy short shorts

    Flowery coat - amazing!
