  1. Perspex bags: plastic fantastic

Sometimes the best fashion accessories are completely frivolous. No-one could claim that a teeny-weenie Perspex clutch is a practical purpose that can be justified on a price-per-wear basis, but how about the value of happiness?

There is something joyful about this summer’s Perspex clutches – a little candy clutch in jelly-bean colours. And much like a sugary snack, which is unnecessary but sometimes just what is needed – the neon clutch is a cherry on top of the sartorial dessert. Guaranteed to brighten up any outfit and add an element of playfulness,  they range from the spectacularly expensive (thanks Mr Lagerfeld) to the super playful (Charlotte Olympia’s super-sized perfume bottle) and  a tangible treat from Zara.

Yes, you’ll have to be super organised (no dead train tickets, used tissues and gum hiding at the bottom of your bag here) and fitting in your essentials will be a squeeze, but sometimes there is a lot to be said for fun…and if you need a little justification for such a frivolous purchase, the neon clutch will work a treat with the all-white and sports luxe trend. Which one(s) do you want? Here’s a tasty pick’n’mix of the best.

    The one?

The one you can afford! £19.99 from Zara

Charlotte Olympia Pink Scent perfume bottle Perspex clutch £795

Another gem, the ‘neon minaudiere’ from Zara for £19.99

Perhaps inspired by Stella McCartney’s beautiful bags on the catwalk?

A green version of the neon mainadiere from Zara

    Oh YES Chanel- Lego-tastic!

Zara neon box clutch £19.99 in lime (my affordable fav!)

  2. Top 5 shoes of 2011

This has been a particularly top 5 for me as I’m a shoe nut. So instead of my favourite 5 shoe designs I thought shoe trends might be more memorable…so here we go!

    1-All that glitters

Miu Miu started it with its glitter booties and glittery courts – and now we’re wearing glittery shoes all the time – no party required (although they are perfect for NYE). We even love the Hailee Stenfeld advert.

    My shoe of the year!

    2-Chelsea boots

In keeping with the reworked mod trend this autumn and teams with more grunge and faux fur separates by so many street style people, the Chelsea boot was back with a bang and coincided with the popular TV series, Made in Chelsea. Apt.

    3-New nude

Kate Middleton has a to answer for, boosting sales of lady-like dresses from Topshop and Whistles as well as knock-off sapphire rings, quilted jackets and nude heels! Yes they’re leg lengthening and flattering but for this shoe fanatic at least…a little safe. Having said that, they have been celebrity favourites for a long time, while Chloe and Stella McCartney made naked shoes cool.

    Kate Middleton: nude shoe fiend

    4-Glutton for punishment

It’s been a pretty extreme year of looks with celebs like Lady Gaga pushing the fashion boundaries, bright hair and fetish-inspired clothes, (thanks Louis Vuitton). Similarly fetishized super high and heel-less boots with studs and latex have been in Vogue. Ouch.

    Amazing heeless Nicholas Kirkwood boots

    5-Miaow

We have Charlotte Olympia to thank for this one – cat pumps and cat wedges as worn by Alexa Chung, SJP and plenty more celebrities aka cats that got the cream.

What was your favourite shoe trend?
