MFW: Gucci -the glam flapper collection
We’re keeping your Milan Fashion Week round-ups short and sweet – much like Gucci’s silhouettes.
Inspiration: Glam 1920s art deco, The Great Gatsby-style lawn parties, Blade Runner.
The look: Long + Lean silhouettes like New York skyscrapers, drop waist tunics, cropped jackets, high-waisted peg trousers, backless dresses, all beaded and monochromatic (in a party way).
Best bit: 10 finale beaded, fringed flapper dresses in black, white, silver and gold. (We predict this will be the new D&G star sequin dress in terms of being on every magazine front cover and ripped off on the high street!)
Notes: It’s Gucci’s 90th anniversary and its creative director Frida Giannini, reportedly said: “I wanted to explore an optical side
of femininity by creating a sculptural glamour. Fusing elements of our DNA, from design history – making them current with a strong sense of personality.”
